YouTube videos wont play

I really like chrome. But somehow today, I opened chrome and I was unable to play any YouTube videos. Earlier it was working fine, but now it wont play any YouTube videos. What happens is that I can open the YouTube page. Every feature (besides the video) are functional. But in place of the video is a black box. Ive tried refreshing the page, looking for something in settings, restarting my device, and looking for solutions online, but so far nothing has helped. I am unsure of what couldve caused this as nothing has changed regarding my device as far as I know. Despite this issue, I believe that chrome is a great app and would suggest it as an alternative to the provided browser app.
